Bring alive the world of Pingu at home with this activity. Use their creative skills to make a Pingu scene from their favorite Pingu episode. Using a cardboard box, make a Pingu scene with your son or daughter like the one in the image.
Instructions to make a Pingu scene
- With the card, cut out the template of Pingu and Pinga’s bed which has been provided. Your child will love helping you cut this out with their child-friendly scissors.
- Once all the pieces have been cut out, glue the bed ends to the base of the bed using non-toxic glue. Then tape this in place and leave to dry for 20 minutes.
- While waiting for the glue to dry you can work on the soft furnishings for the room. Use some old fabric to make the blankets and pillows. To make the pillows, sew the fabric together to form a small pouch and fill with cotton wool or other spare fabric.
- Have your child draw pictures to go on the sides of the box to recreate Pingu’s bedroom walls.
As you are making your Pingu bedroom recreation be sure to talk about the items you are making like – pillow, window, bed, blanket, lamp, shelves. This will really help your child consolidate this vocabulary in memory. When your room is finished use your Pingu figurines or any other figurines you have to play with in the new room for hours of fun!
